The history of pottery, particularly in the southern part of Gifu Prefecture, which is considered the Mino Province, dates back to the 5th century and has been popular with numerous warring feudal lords and tea masters. Mino Momoyama pottery revered as a national treasure.
Since the establishment in 1957, Ichiyama has been producing ceramic ware that would complement the food. Through technological improvements and development of original production methods, ICHIYAMA has created economical and trendy products that add colour to the dining table.
MINO WARE
Mino ware is a traditional Japanese ceramic ware developed in the Tono region of Gifu Prefecture, incorporating new styles and techniques over time to produce a wide variety of vessels.
It has a history of more than 1,400 years and was blessed with environmental resources such as good soil suitable for kiln building and red pine for firewood.
Mino ware is a much-loved type of Japanese ceramics due to its rich tradition and versatility.
